Hello everyone, welcome back to Anna Nguyen’s travel sharing articles. Today I will introduce to everyone a place that attracts many tourists both domestic and foreign. Don’t keep you waiting anymore, it’s Sapa. Why do I want to introduce Sapa and not other places? That’s because of the pleasant climate, unique culture and interesting destinations here. I will talk more about the Sapa tour itinerary in the next article. And today I will overview it.

In terms of climate, Sapa is blessed with a cool climate all year round, everywhere covered with fog. The weather in the town in one day has all four seasons: in the morning it is spring weather, in the afternoon it is like summer, the sun is mild but not harsh, the climate is cool, in the afternoon clouds and dew fall creating a feeling. It’s as cold as autumn and at night it’s the cold of winter. More specifically, if you go in the winter and if you lucky, you can experience watching snow fall.

Have you wondered why Sapa in Vietnam has a tropical climate, but does it have snow? Because it is in a fairly high mountainous area, low temperatures create conditions for snowfall. As far as I know, Sapa will have snow from December to the end of January but it also depends on the temperature each year, so if you want to try seeing snow once, you should find out before going. Next, Sapa also attracts tourists by its natural beauty and cultural identity. It is like a gift that nature gives to the Northwest mountains and the local people. Admiring the beauty of the green of the trees, the yellow of the rice, the color of wildflowers mixed among the hills and mountains or the purple buckwheat flower season, amidst the sound of flowing waterfalls and the sweet chirping of birds…that feeling is truly wonderful.

Besides, we can also learn and immerse ourselves in the unique cultures of ethnic minorities. There are many ethnic groups living together in Sapa, typically: H’mong, Red Dao, Tay, Giay and Xa Pho ethnic group. The H’mong and Red Dao people make up a large number of residents living in Sapa.

As for the H’mong people, they mainly make a living through agricultural and handicraft production. Agricultural products of the H’mong people are corn, upland rice, potatoes, buckwheat, sesame, vegetables… In addition, the H’mong people also grow medicine and famous fruit trees in Sapa like apples, peaches, plums…, the Red Dao people grow rice, corn and fruit trees.

Here is also known for the wife-catching custom of the H’Mong people. Because there are some couples who fall in love together, but the boy does not have enough money to ask his girl to marry him, so the custom of wife-catching arose to show the freedom of marriage as well as show the courage of the man. According to the belief, when a woman is arrested, the louder the girl cries and the more fiercely she reacts, the happier the couple will be.
